Scanning pets and retrieving the microchip number is a standard feature included with your PetScanner at no extra charge. PetScanner is capable of reading FDX-B microchips implanted in pets, allowing you to access the chip number. When scanning a pet, the following three potential outcomes may occur:

• If the pet is registered with PetScanner, the contact details of the owner will be displayed.
• If the pet is registered with another service, PetScanner will indicate which database contains information regarding that chip number and provide the corresponding contact details.
• If the pet is not registered with any database or cannot be located, only the chip number will be displayed.

Additionally, PetScanner offers optional registration services along with PetScanner Pet Protection. Upon encountering an unregistered pet, users are presented with an option to register the pet with PetScanner for enhanced protection:

• Registration involves a one-time payment of £2.99 per pet for DEFRA-compliant microchip registration. This fee grants lifelong access to updating contact information and enables individuals who scan your pet to contact you in case it gets lost or stolen.
• PetScanner Pet Protection is available starting at just £0.99 per month and provides advanced microchip protection features. Benefits include instant notifications when your pet's chip is scanned using a PetScanner and when queried on any other DEFRA-compliant chip lookup tool.
